Meet Your Teachers

Anna

Hi!

I'm Anna Turunen, and I lead the children's Tuesday group, the music playgroup, and the beginners' group for adults at FinnFun. I have been involved with FinnFun for about years now and I am also the secretary of the board.

I have a Master's degree in Education and am a special education teacher. I worked as a general special education teacher in an elementary school in Finland for 18 years.

Music has been a beloved hobby of mine since childhood. I play the violin and sing in the Elektra choir here in Vancouver.

Let’s see in class!

Tanja

Hello everyone! Hei kaikki!

I´m Tanja Sabell, chair of FinnFun’s board and a teacher of Finnish language classes for adults. I have lived in North Vancouver with my husband and two sons since 2018.

I hold a master’s degree in educational sciences. When I lived in Finland, I worked in HR and communications roles in the shipbuilding industry. I now work for the Embassy of Finland in Canada, at the Honorary Consulate of Finland in Vancouver.

I enjoy horseback riding, skiing, golf, and being outdoors in Vancouver’s beautiful scenery, and, of course, vacationing—especially in Finland.

I look forward to seeing you in class!
